Where it came from
Released in 1978, the LEGO Road Signs set 6315-1 served as a supplemental pack designed to enhance the burgeoning city layouts of the era. During this period, LEGO was expanding its 'Legoland' system, and this set provided essential infrastructure to make miniature urban environments feel more realistic and playable. It was a functional, utilitarian addition to the town line, reflecting the company’s focus on fostering imaginative play through recognizable real-world elements.
The design of the set featured basic printed tiles and standard elements representing common traffic signage, including stop signs and directional arrows. These pieces were crafted to be compatible with the standard plate-based road systems introduced around the same time. The set was well-received by collectors and children alike for its accessibility and ability to integrate seamlessly into existing builds, remaining a foundational example of the classic LEGO town aesthetic.
