Where it came from
Released in 2017, the Roadwork Crew set 42060 was part of the Lego Technic theme, designed to provide an entry-level building experience that emphasized mechanical functionality. As a '2-in-1' model, it allowed builders to construct either a road construction truck with a trailer and excavator or a street sweeper, reflecting the theme's long-standing focus on engineering principles and industrial machinery.
The set was developed during a period when the Lego Group was increasingly utilizing the Technic line to bridge the gap between simpler building sets and complex, motorized models. By incorporating basic gear functions and articulated parts, the design team aimed to teach users about weight distribution and mechanical movement in a compact, accessible format that appealed to both newcomers and long-term hobbyists.
