Where it came from
Released in 1999, the School Room set was part of a brief collaborative venture between the LEGO Group and Shell, designed as a promotional polybag rather than a traditional retail box set. Its creation was rooted in the era's common practice of using small, simple builds as gas station incentives to drive brand loyalty and customer traffic at service stations.
The set features a minimalist design consisting of basic bricks intended to represent a primary education setting. While it lacks the complex engineering of modern modular builds, it exemplifies the functional simplicity of late-nineties promotional items. At the time of its release, the set was received as an accessible, low-cost addition for collectors focusing on the educational or town-themed miniature builds produced during this promotional period.
