Where it came from
Sir Jayko was released in 2004 as part of the Lego Knights' Kingdom II theme, representing the main protagonist of the line's serialized narrative. This era of Lego design was defined by the introduction of large-scale, buildable action figures that departed from traditional minifigure-scale sets, aiming to capture the aesthetic of fantasy-themed animation popular at the time.
The figure was designed to embody the archetypal heroic knight, utilizing a unique construction system that allowed for greater articulation than previous Lego character models. While the Knights' Kingdom II theme reached a broad demographic of younger builders through its accompanying comic book and media tie-ins, the stylized, specialized plastic parts of these figures remain a distinct departure from the classic brick-based assembly favored by adult collectors.
