Where it came from
Released in the early 1970s, the LEGO set 11-2 is a quintessential example of the company's early forays into the pre-school market. During this era, the brand began to diversify its portfolio by creating simplified, chunkier sets designed specifically for younger children who lacked the fine motor skills required for standard brick sets, helping to establish the foundation for what would eventually evolve into the Duplo line.
The design of set 11-2 reflects the minimalist aesthetic of mid-century children's toys, emphasizing primary colors and basic geometric shapes to encourage open-ended play. While the set is modest in piece count and lacks the complex building techniques of modern themes, it was well-received as an accessible entry point for toddlers, embodying the company's commitment to durability and educational development through tactile experience.
