Where it came from
The Small Wheels with Axles set, numbered 400-2, was released during the early era of System-scale construction bricks, specifically designed to introduce motion to static models. It emerged during a period when the manufacturer was expanding its creative possibilities beyond simple architectural building, providing builders with the mechanical components necessary to construct functional vehicles and rolling platforms.
The design is characterized by its utilitarian simplicity, consisting of standard-sized plastic wheels paired with metal axles held in place by small plastic plates. This functional design was intended to be compatible with the existing brick ecosystem of the time, allowing users to integrate movement into their custom builds. It was well-received by hobbyists as a foundational utility pack, serving as a reliable resource for those looking to advance their designs from stationary structures to interactive play.
