Where it came from
Released in 2014, the Snake Showdown set (10722-1) was part of the LEGO Juniors line, a short-lived theme specifically engineered to bridge the gap between DUPLO bricks and more complex system-scale models. The set was designed to be age-appropriate for children aged four to seven, featuring simplified assembly techniques and larger, pre-molded elements that allowed younger builders to experience the satisfaction of completing a structure without the frustration of more intricate builds.
The design of the set focuses on the adventurous aesthetic common to mid-2010s play themes, centering on an explorer minifigure facing a brick-built snake. By utilizing a mix of specialized starter pieces and classic building blocks, the design team aimed to cultivate motor skills and encourage imaginative role-play scenarios. It remains a hallmark of the Juniors era, representing the company's effort to standardize an accessible entry point into the hobby for a generation of young builders.
