Where it came from
Released in 2012 as part of the initial Ninjago sub-theme known as the Serpentine, the Snappa minifigure represents the Fangpyre tribe. This character was designed to populate the early waves of the Ninjago storyline, where the ninja faced off against various snake-themed antagonists. The set 9564-1 served as a promotional polybag, intended to introduce younger collectors to the lore of the Fangpyre warriors who utilized the power of venom to turn their enemies into allies.
The aesthetic of the Snappa figure draws heavily from the Japanese-inspired fantasy tropes of the Ninjago universe, characterized by distinctive reptilian headgear and serpent-like markings. Designed by the internal Lego concept team, the figure was crafted to be modular and compatible with the broader range of Ninjago vehicles and play sets. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the series for its unique molded head piece and its role in expanding the visual diversity of the Serpentine army.
