Where it came from
Released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Friends line, the Snow Resort Ski Lift was designed to expand the narrative of the theme's Heartlake City residents by exploring winter sports. The set was developed to capture the atmosphere of a mountain getaway, featuring a functional pulley-driven lift mechanism and a scenic slope, reflecting the brand's shift toward more interactive, activity-focused play environments within this specific series.
The design emphasizes the bright, approachable color palette characteristic of the Friends sub-brand, prioritizing playability through modular architecture. It was received as a strong addition to the winter-themed wave of that year, lauded by builders for the mechanical ingenuity of the ski lift system, which demonstrated a higher level of technical complexity than many contemporary sets aimed at the same demographic.
