Where it came from
Released in 2002 as part of the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series, the 10026 Special Edition Naboo Starfighter was designed to appeal to adult fans seeking higher levels of detail than the standard playset versions. It arrived during a period when the LEGO Group was actively expanding its sophisticated, display-oriented offerings to commemorate the prequel trilogy, specifically drawing inspiration from the N-1 starfighter featured in The Phantom Menace.
The set was modeled to capture the iconic aerodynamic curves and chrome aesthetic of the cinematic craft, though the choice of gray bricks for the main body—due to the prohibitive cost and structural limitations of metallic-finished parts at the time—became a notable point of discussion among enthusiasts. It remains a significant historical marker for the transition of the Star Wars line toward more complex, collector-focused building experiences.
