Where it came from
The Star Wars Anniversary Pod, released in 2018 as set 5005376-1, was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Star Wars film franchise. This promotional polybag was distributed primarily as a gift-with-purchase during specific LEGO retail events, serving as a collectible container that celebrates the brand's enduring relationship with the Star Wars license.
The design of the pod features a spherical, clam-shell case that mimics the aesthetic of a portable storage unit, housing a buildable Darth Vader minifigure along with a small display base. The choice of Darth Vader reflects his iconic status within the series, and the compact, modular presentation was designed by the LEGO Group to appeal to both adult collectors and younger fans looking for a portable play experience.
