Starter Train Set without Motor

The 111-2 Starter Train Set was produced by LEGO during the late 1950s, representing a formative era for the company as it transitioned toward the modern interlocking brick system. Designed as a foundational building experience, this set was created to introduce children to the concept of modular construction, providing the essential tracks and basic carriage structures that would define the brand's expansive train theme for decades to come.

The design of the set focuses on mechanical simplicity and tactile engagement, reflecting the aesthetic standards of mid-century European toy manufacturing. While it lacked a self-contained motor, it served as a creative canvas for builders to incorporate their own manual propulsion or to customize the basic chassis. It is remembered today as a quintessential piece of toy history that established the design language for the long-running LEGO train series.
