Where it came from
Released in 2020 as part of the LEGO Ninjago Legacy subtheme, the Storm Fighter Battle set was designed to introduce younger builders to the Ninjago universe. The set serves as a reimagining of older concepts, focusing on accessibility through the 4+ age rating. It includes simplified, large-piece elements meant to help children transition from LEGO Duplo to the standard system while maintaining the aesthetic core of the long-running Ninjago narrative.
The design emphasizes playability, featuring a jet for Jay and a spinning toy for Lasha, the iconic villain. It was produced during a period when the LEGO Group sought to revitalize classic story arcs for a new generation of fans. Upon its release, it was well-received by parents and educators for its focus on building confidence, serving as a gateway for many children into the detailed world of Spinjitzu.
