Where it came from
The LEGO City Straight & T-Junction set, released in 2019, was designed as an essential expansion pack for the broader LEGO City road system. It reflects the company’s long-standing effort to provide modular infrastructure that allows builders to connect their various urban sets into a cohesive landscape, serving as a functional utility piece rather than a character-driven build.
The design prioritizes utilitarian versatility, utilizing the standard grey road plate format that has defined the City theme for decades. While the set is modest in terms of brick count, it was received by the community as a practical necessity for expanding existing layouts, maintaining the consistent aesthetic of LEGO's civic infrastructure while providing the specific geometry needed to create more complex street networks.
