Where it came from
Released in 2012 as part of the LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes line, the Superman vs. Power Armor Lex set arrived during a period of renewed focus on DC Comics properties within the LEGO catalog. The set was designed to capture the iconic adversarial relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor, featuring a buildable green and purple mechanical suit—a design language consistently associated with Luthor's technology in both comic books and animated series—alongside a Kryptonite laser cannon.
The minifigures included in this set—Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lex Luthor—were crafted to reflect modern interpretations of these characters, with Superman appearing in his New 52-inspired aesthetic. The set was well-received by fans for its inclusion of Wonder Woman, whose availability in early DC sets was limited, and for the clever integration of the Power Armor vehicle, which provided a robust build experience despite the relatively modest piece count of the set.
