Where it came from
Released in 2024 as part of the Lego Friends theme, this set was designed to capture the playful, hobby-focused lifestyle of the Heartlake City characters. The set belongs to a series of smaller, budget-friendly builds intended to introduce children to the Friends aesthetic through relatable, everyday adventures. By focusing on a pet-centric narrative, the design team aimed to emphasize the bonds between the characters and their animal companions, utilizing a vibrant color palette typical of the modern Friends refresh.
The design of the set focuses on modularity and ease of assembly, reflecting a shift in the Lego Group's strategy to provide accessible entry points for younger builders. The inclusion of the surfing dog and scooter reflects a broader trend in the theme to depict active, outdoor leisure activities. Upon its release, the set was noted by enthusiasts for its inclusion of specialized animal figures and colorful accessories, fitting seamlessly into the larger, interconnected world of the revamped Heartlake City.
