Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the LEGO City Swamp Police subtheme, this starter set was designed to provide an entry-level introduction to the broader police and criminal pursuit narrative that characterized the City line during this period. It was conceived to offer quick playability, featuring a small police hovercraft, a swamp hideout, and a modest selection of minifigures, reflecting the era's focus on diversifying the settings of standard law enforcement play sets beyond traditional urban environments.
The design of the set leans into the aesthetic established by the Swamp Police wave, utilizing a color palette of dark blue, lime, and black to represent the murky environment. Developed by the LEGO design team, the set aimed to balance the technical aspects of small-scale vehicle construction with the character-driven potential of the included thief and officer figures, receiving generally positive recognition from builders for its value and the inclusion of thematic accessories like the swamp snake and gold bar.
