Where it came from
The LEGO City Swamp Police Station, released in 2015, was a centerpiece of the recurring 'Swamp Police' sub-theme within the broader City line. Designed to capture a rugged, outdoor law enforcement aesthetic, the set emphasized the modularity and play features central to the City theme, including a command center, a jail cell, and a swamp-based vehicle fleet. The set was created to provide children with a distinct narrative environment that transitioned from traditional urban settings to a more dangerous, muddy wilderness.
The design team focused on a color palette of olive green, tan, and dark grey to evoke the atmosphere of an alligator-infested marshland. It featured specialized parts such as a moulded alligator figure and off-road police craft, which were highly popular additions to the City collection at the time. Upon its release, the set received positive feedback for its expanded storytelling potential, though it also marked a shift toward more specialized, environment-specific sub-themes that characterized LEGO's design strategy during the mid-2010s.
