Where it came from
The LEGO Taxi Garage, set 368-1, was released in 1974 as part of the early Town sub-theme that helped establish the modern LEGO minifigure scale. It represents a transitional period for the company, as it moved away from the more rudimentary building styles of the late 1960s toward the more detailed, interactive playsets that would define the 1980s. The design features a modular garage structure with a classic yellow taxi vehicle, reflecting the urban focus of the era's sets.
Designed during a time when LEGO was refining the standardized proportions of its town-based buildings, this set is notable for its inclusion of the early, armless minifigures. These figures were produced before the 1978 introduction of the iconic hinged-arm design, marking the set as a significant piece for collectors interested in the evolution of LEGO ergonomics. While simple by modern standards, it was well-received for its playability and its contribution to the growing cityscape collections of the 1970s.
