Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the Lego BrickHeadz line, this buildable figure depicts Thanos as he appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Infinity War. The BrickHeadz series was introduced in 2017, characterized by a distinct, stylized aesthetic featuring blocky, oversized heads and simplified proportions. This specific figure was designed to translate the complex, formidable look of the character into a small-scale, collectible model utilizing a specialized base plate for display.
The design process for the Thanos BrickHeadz aimed to capture the essence of the character’s purple complexion, iconic gold armor, and his presence as the primary antagonist of the Infinity Saga. While the aesthetic was a departure from traditional, realistic minifigures, the set was well-received by fans of both Lego and the Marvel franchise for its quirky design and accessibility. It remains a notable entry in the sub-theme due to the enduring popularity of the character within contemporary pop culture.
