The Abandoned Village

Released in 2023 as part of the Lego Minecraft theme, The Abandoned Village was designed to capture a specific, eerie gameplay mechanic from the Minecraft video game. The set depicts the ruined, moss-covered structures that players encounter in desert or plains biomes, incorporating iconic features like a zombie hunter's workstation, a blast furnace, and a campfire. The design intent was to provide builders with a modular experience that emphasizes the game's survival and scavenging aspects rather than the traditional building focus of earlier sets.

The set includes minifigures of a zombie hunter and a zombie villager, reflecting the hostile environment of an abandoned village where undead mobs frequently congregate. Critics and fans noted that the set successfully translated the game's blocky aesthetic into a physical form, with its weathered color palette and structural decay effectively mimicking the decaying architecture found within the digital source material. It remains a notable entry in the theme for its atmospheric approach to the Minecraft world.
