Where it came from
The Heligoyle, released in 2017 as part of the Nexo Knights theme, represents a distinct pivot in construction-toy aesthetics. The set was designed to embody a fusion of medieval fantasy and high-tech machinery, reflecting the overarching narrative of the Nexo Knights universe where knights battle technological monsters. By utilizing a helicopter-inspired frame integrated with gargoyle-like mechanical features, the design aimed to capture a sense of agile, predatory motion that distinguished it from traditional castle-themed sets.
The design team emphasized the playability of the wings and the 'flick-fire' missile functionality to cater to the action-oriented nature of the theme. While Nexo Knights occupied a niche position within the broader portfolio of the manufacturer, this set was noted by enthusiasts for its unique wing-articulation mechanism and dark color palette. Upon its release, it was received as a functional addition to the antagonist's forces, praised for its aggressive silhouette and creative use of angular wing components.
