Where it came from
Released in 2017 to coincide with the theatrical debut of The LEGO Ninjago Movie, this foam-based replica was designed as a roleplay accessory for younger fans. It was part of a broader marketing strategy to bridge the gap between the film's stylized, cinematic aesthetic and the tactile nature of LEGO's physical play products.
The design of the sword reflects the specific 'Ninjago' visual identity, characterized by a fusion of traditional eastern weaponry silhouettes and a modern, high-tech color palette. As a promotional item, it was distributed primarily through official retail channels and cinema-tie-in events, and it was received as a standard entry in the studio's line of licensed accessories meant to encourage interactive, imaginative play.
