Where it came from
The LEGO Train (set 4000014-2) was produced specifically for the 2014 LEGO Inside Tour, an exclusive event that grants a small group of adult fans a behind-the-scenes look at the LEGO Group’s headquarters in Billund, Denmark. These sets were gifted to participants as a token of the experience, serving as a commemorative model that mirrors the heritage of the company's early wooden and plastic train designs.
The set was designed to reflect the aesthetic of the classic LEGOLAND trains that circulated the parks in the mid-20th century. By evoking this nostalgic style, the designers aimed to honor the legacy of early LEGO play themes. Because it was limited to the attendees of the Inside Tour, it became a highly sought-after piece among collectors due to its exclusivity and its direct connection to the history of the company's manufacturing origins.
