Where it came from
Released in 2019 as part of the LEGO Ninjago Legacy subtheme, the Samurai Mech 70665 was designed to celebrate the history of the Ninjago franchise by reimagining classic sets from the series' early years. This set serves as a direct update to the 2012 Samurai Mech, reflecting the evolution of LEGO building techniques while honoring the nostalgic aesthetic of the original iteration.
The design focuses on playability and articulation, featuring a cockpit for the Samurai X minifigure, poseable limbs, and dual stud shooters. The model was received positively by fans of the series for its accessibility and its faithful translation of the source material into a more modern, sturdy build, effectively bridging the gap between legacy fans and newer collectors.
