Where it came from
The LEGO Movie 2 Notebook (set 853878-1) was released in 2019 to coincide with the theatrical debut of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Produced as a piece of promotional stationery, it served as a functional tie-in item designed for younger fans of the franchise to capture notes or sketches inspired by the film's vibrant, post-apocalyptic aesthetic.
The notebook features branding and character imagery consistent with the film's marketing style, emphasizing the whimsical and modular nature of the LEGO design language. As an entry-level accessory item, it was primarily distributed through LEGO Brand Retail stores and online platforms, reflecting the company’s strategy of extending brand presence beyond traditional construction sets into lifestyle and office products.
