Where it came from
The Tournament Battle Arena, set 71818, was released by the LEGO Group as part of the Ninjago theme. It was designed to capture the high-stakes, martial arts-focused aesthetic of the Ninjago Dragons Rising series, providing a dedicated playset for recreating the intense tournament duels central to the narrative. The construction focuses on modularity and interactive play features, such as rotating platforms and trap doors, which allow for dynamic combat scenarios.
The set reflects the evolution of LEGO’s approach to action-oriented playsets, balancing architectural detail with the functional requirements of a battle stage. By incorporating elements like a drum and a staircase, the designers aimed to evoke the spirit of a traditional dojo tournament. Since its introduction, the set has been received by the community as a functional centerpiece for Ninjago fans looking to expand their collection of combat-themed dioramas.
