Tractor & Trailer

The LEGO Tractor and Trailer, set number 304-2, was released in the early 1970s as part of the broader LEGO System of Play. During this era, the company was actively expanding its city and vehicle-themed offerings to include functional agricultural equipment, reflecting a shift toward sets that could simulate everyday rural life. The design is characteristic of the period, utilizing primary colors and simple, stud-based construction techniques that prioritized durability and ease of assembly for younger builders.

This set was designed during a time when LEGO vehicles relied on a standardized chassis and wheel assembly, often incorporating a universal hitch mechanism to allow for inter-set play. While not as complex as modern Technic models, the 304-2 was well-regarded by collectors for its clever use of limited brick counts to effectively communicate the silhouette of a working farm vehicle. It remains a notable piece for those who document the evolution of LEGO's infrastructure and utility vehicle designs throughout the twentieth century.
