Where it came from
The Traffic Cop was released in 2010 as part of the LEGO Minifigures Series 2, a line designed to broaden the appeal of the brand by introducing diverse, individual characters that could be collected and traded. This series leaned into urban archetypes, providing fans with accessible, personality-driven figures that deviated from the larger, ship- or vehicle-focused sets that historically dominated the LEGO catalog.
Designed by the internal LEGO creative team, the Traffic Cop reflects a minimalist approach to character design, utilizing a standard torso print with a high-visibility vest and a unique molded whistle accessory. The figure was well-received by the community for its blend of realism and the iconic LEGO aesthetic, quickly becoming a staple for builders looking to populate city-themed dioramas with authentic municipal workers.
