Where it came from
The Treasure Cart, set 2889-1, was released in 1999 as part of the LEGO Promotional line. It was designed as a small-scale, standalone polybag set intended to serve as a supplemental build for the broader Castle or generic medieval-themed collections popular at the time. Its inclusion in promotional distributions made it a modest but charming addition to the era's inventory of small, character-focused builds.
The design follows the classic aesthetic of late 1990s LEGO sets, utilizing a simple brick-built cart structure paired with a singular minifigure. The set was intended to offer an accessible entry point for builders, focusing on the functionality of the cart and the thematic appeal of the knight minifigure. It remains a nostalgic piece for those who appreciate the minimalist and sturdy construction methods that defined the company's design philosophy during that decade.
