Treasure Island

Released as part of the Lego Duplo brand, the Treasure Island set 10604-1 was introduced to provide younger children with an accessible, narrative-driven building experience. It emerged from the broader Duplo line, which has long focused on chunky, durable bricks designed to bridge the gap between simple play and early developmental skills. This particular set leaned into the enduring appeal of pirate adventures, utilizing large-scale elements to encourage roleplay and motor skill development in children aged two to five.

The design of the set focuses on the iconic imagery of maritime exploration, featuring a pirate captain figure, a parrot, and a treasure chest, all crafted to be compatible with standard Duplo systems. By using bright colors and oversized, rounded pieces, the designers prioritized child safety and ease of assembly over complex structural detail. The set was well-received by the target demographic for its playability and its ability to integrate seamlessly with other sets in the Duplo pirate sub-theme, which became a staple of the brand's catalog during its period of availability.
