Where it came from
The LEGO Juniors Turtle Lair, set number 10669-1, was released in 2014 as part of a line designed specifically to bridge the gap between DUPLO and standard LEGO system bricks. The set was created to appeal to younger builders, featuring simplified construction techniques and larger, pre-molded components that allowed children to build a recognizable scene from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with greater ease and confidence than more complex adult-oriented sets.
The design of the set focuses on the iconic sewer base, incorporating elements such as a lookout point, a skateboard ramp, and a vehicle for Leonardo and Raphael. It reflects the aesthetic of the 2012 Nickelodeon animated series, utilizing character designs and color palettes consistent with that era's media. Upon its release, the set was received as a practical entry point for young fans of the series, valued for its durability and the inclusion of two primary protagonist minifigures.
