Tyres and Hubs 49.6 mm White

The Tyres and Hubs 49.6 mm White set, cataloged as 5271-1, was released as part of the LEGO Technic line in the late 1990s. Designed to provide builders with specialized wheel components, this set emerged during a period when the Technic theme was expanding its emphasis on realistic vehicle movement and structural complexity. These larger wheels were engineered to support the weight and scale of more substantial motorized or heavy-duty model builds, offering a distinct aesthetic and functional upgrade from the standard smaller wheels of the era.

The design of the 49.6 mm white hub and tyre assembly prioritized compatibility with the evolving Technic axle and pin system. By standardizing the connection points, LEGO ensured that these components could be integrated seamlessly into both official sets and custom mechanical creations. While these parts were essentially utility pieces, they became sought after by enthusiasts for their versatility in building rugged all-terrain vehicles and industrial machinery, marking a practical shift in the modular capabilities of the Technic ecosystem.
