Where it came from
The Vacation Batman minifigure was released in 2017 as part of the first series of The LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures line, designated as set 71017. Created to coincide with the release of the Warner Animation Group film, the set was designed to capture the various whimsical and eccentric costumes worn by Batman throughout the movie's narrative. This specific variant depicts Batman in a relaxed, comedic state, wearing a beach-themed outfit complete with a snorkel and a utility belt, reflecting the film's satirical take on the character's traditionally somber persona.
The character design was spearheaded by the LEGO Group's design team in close collaboration with the film's production staff to ensure the minifigures accurately translated the movie's stylized aesthetic into physical form. The figure is noted for its high level of printed detail, including a patterned cape and dual-molded accessories. Upon release, the series was well-received by fans and collectors, who appreciated the depth of the character catalog and the creative, tongue-in-cheek approach to the Batman mythos.
