Where it came from
Released in 2002 as part of the Lego City theme, the Vehicles Gift Set (66684-1) was a bundle package designed to offer consumers a curated selection of existing small-scale sets in a single box. During this period, Lego frequently utilized gift sets during the holiday season to provide value to shoppers by combining popular impulse-buy items from their active catalog, encouraging play by offering a variety of vehicle types within one purchase.
The set includes components from the Town and City ranges, featuring individual vehicle builds that emphasize playability and modularity. The design of these vehicles followed the standard aesthetic for Lego City at the time, prioritizing bright colors and straightforward assembly. These gift sets were well-received as an efficient way to expand a collection, serving as an accessible entry point for younger builders while maintaining the classic design language established throughout the early 2000s.
