Venice

Released in 2016 as part of the Lego Architecture Skyline series, the Venice set was designed to capture the unique geography and architectural heritage of the Italian city. The set sought to translate iconic landmarks—specifically the Rialto Bridge, St. Theodore's column, the Winged Lion of St. Mark, St. Mark's Basilica, the Campanile, and the Bridge of Sighs—into a compact, micro-scale representation. This series was developed to appeal to adult fans of Lego who appreciated the intersection of structural engineering and historical aesthetics, offering a sophisticated display piece that prioritized silhouette and recognizability over minifigure-scale playability.

The design process for the Architecture line often involves a close collaboration between master builders and architects to distill complex buildings into their essential geometric forms. By using a monochromatic palette accented with specific colors to denote water and structural features, the Venice set was intended to evoke the feeling of a cityscape viewed from a distance. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors for its clever use of parts to suggest intricate stonework and the distinctive canal-bound layout of the city, becoming a staple for those curating desktop-sized global landmarks.
