Venom

The LEGO Marvel Venom set, numbered 76187, was released in 2021 as part of an expanding range of display-oriented models designed for adult collectors. This set emerged during a period when the LEGO Group significantly diversified its portfolio to include sophisticated, non-minifigure builds that function as desk ornaments or conversation pieces. It specifically utilizes the 'helmet' style design language, emphasizing the creature's jagged teeth, long tongue, and alien appearance, rather than the traditional vehicle or playset structure typical of the broader Marvel theme.

The design process for the 76187 set focused on capturing the visceral aesthetic of the character as depicted in the Marvel Spider-Man comics. By employing a black and white color scheme with a textured, brick-built approach, the designers aimed to recreate the symbiote's menacing expression while maintaining structural stability for display purposes. Upon its release, the model was generally well-received by fans of the character, particularly for its distinct sculptural silhouette that distinguishes it from the standard, more colorful offerings within the Marvel LEGO lineup.
