Water Plane Chase

The Water Plane Chase set, released in 2015 as part of the Lego City subtheme known as Deep Sea Explorers, was developed to expand the play potential of maritime-themed builds within the broader City line. The set features a specialized seaplane designed for search-and-rescue operations, reflecting the theme's focus on professional exploration and high-stakes oceanic tasks. It was crafted to provide a narrative-driven experience, complete with an explorer minifigure and a shark figure to engage younger builders in creative storytelling.

The design of the set focuses on the functional aesthetic of search-and-rescue equipment, utilizing a color palette of white, orange, and blue to ensure high visibility and a professional appearance consistent with emergency vehicles. As a mid-sized set in the City range, it was marketed as an entry point into the Deep Sea series, praised by the collecting community for its inclusion of unique parts, such as the translucent blue shark and the specialized cockpit canopy, which helped distinguish it from standard civilian sets.
