Where it came from
The Winter Holiday Train, set 40700-1, was released by the LEGO Group in 2024 as a seasonal promotional item. It serves as a miniature, stylized iteration of the festive train motif that has long been a staple of the company’s holiday-themed sub-themes, designed to complement larger seasonal displays or serve as a standalone decorative piece during the winter months.
The design emphasizes a compact, accessible build that captures the quintessential aesthetic of a vintage steam engine and passenger carriage. By utilizing a simplified brick-built approach, the designers focused on evoking nostalgic winter imagery, such as red and gold accents and snowy detailing, ensuring the set remains approachable for builders of various skill levels while maintaining the consistent visual language of the Creator theme.
