Winter Holiday Train

The Winter Holiday Train, released in 2016 as part of the Lego Creator Expert Winter Village subtheme, was designed to expand the festive annual collection that began in 2009. The set was conceived to provide a functional, track-based centerpiece for holiday displays, incorporating a locomotive, a coal tender, a flatbed wagon with a rotating Christmas tree, and a caboose. Its design prioritizes a classic, nostalgic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from traditional steam locomotives to evoke a sense of seasonal wonder.

The set was designed by Lego designer Marcos Bessa, who aimed to balance playability with display-focused detail, ensuring the train was compatible with standard Lego track systems and capable of being motorized. Upon release, it was well-received by the adult fan community and holiday decorators alike for its compact footprint and the inclusion of five minifigures, which helped breathe life into the small-scale winter scene. It remains a notable entry in the series, often cited for its effectiveness in bridging the gap between toy and decorative holiday model.
