Winter Skating Scene

The Winter Skating Scene, released as set 40107-1 in 2014, was designed as a seasonal promotional item within the LEGO Creator theme. It was distributed during the holiday period as a gift-with-purchase, continuing a tradition of small, festive vignettes intended to complement the larger Winter Village sub-theme. The design features a frozen pond built with translucent blue tiles, a small snow-covered bridge, and two minifigures, reflecting a minimalist aesthetic focused on capturing a quaint, classic holiday atmosphere.

The set was conceived by the LEGO design team to serve as an accessible entry point for seasonal collectors, emphasizing playability through a simple gear-driven mechanism that allows the skaters to rotate on the ice. Its reception among the fan community was largely positive, praised for its efficient use of parts and its ability to integrate seamlessly into larger winter-themed displays. As a limited-run promotional item, it remains a notable example of the company's long-standing strategy of incentivizing holiday shopping with thematic, buildable dioramas.
