Where it came from
Released in 2024 as part of the LEGO Botanical Collection sub-series, the Woodland Mushrooms set was designed to cater to an adult audience seeking decorative, displayable models that blend home decor with building play. The set draws inspiration from the aesthetic of forest foraging and nature studies, aiming to capture the organic, varying shapes of fungi through plastic bricks rather than traditional flora.
The design team focused on creating two distinct mushroom varieties—a larger, spotted red-capped mushroom and a smaller, brown-capped counterpart—each perched on a moss-textured base. By utilizing specialized elements to replicate the gill structures and uneven caps, the designers prioritized a realistic silhouette. Upon release, the set was noted for its departure from typical vehicle or character-based builds, instead emphasizing a peaceful, meditative building experience that resonates with fans of modern, minimalist lifestyle sets.
