Where it came from
Released in 2010, the 'Woody and Buzz to the Rescue' set (7590-1) was part of the LEGO Toy Story subtheme, which coincided with the theatrical release of Toy Story 3. This set was designed to capture the iconic scene from the original 1995 film where the two main characters attempt to escape the clutches of Sid Phillips's dog, Scud, using the remote-controlled car.
The set features specialized, non-standard minifigures designed to reflect the unique proportions of the characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear. By utilizing molded, dedicated headpieces and torso designs rather than traditional LEGO minifigure parts, the designers aimed to maintain the cinematic integrity of the characters while integrating them into the classic building system. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise for providing a compact and recognizable diorama of a pivotal moment in the series.
