Where it came from
Released in 1989, the World of Bricks set is a nostalgic example of late-eighties LEGO branding, intended to showcase the modular potential of the classic basic brick. Emerging during a period when the brand was solidifying its global identity, this collection focused on foundational building techniques rather than specialized themes, encouraging creative freedom through a diverse assortment of primary-colored pieces.
The set reflects the minimalist, design-forward aesthetic typical of the era, prioritizing open-ended play over complex narrative builds. It was received as a versatile toolkit for burgeoning builders, serving as an entry point for children to explore geometry and structure. Its legacy lies in its simplicity, representing a time when the focus remained on the tactile experience of the standard brick.
