Where it came from
Wyplash was released in 2010 as part of the inaugural wave of LEGO Ninjago, a theme created to blend traditional martial arts motifs with high-fantasy elements. As a member of the Skeleton Army, Wyplash represents the primary antagonists of the theme's first year, specifically serving as the General of the Skullkin. The figure was featured in set 2175, which highlights the character's distinct design featuring a unique articulated jaw and skeletal motifs that defined the aesthetic of the early Ninjago antagonists.
The design of the character was developed by the LEGO Group's internal design team during the conceptualization of the Ninjago franchise. The team aimed to create a visually striking, modular enemy force that could be easily adapted into various play sets while maintaining a cohesive, menacing look. Upon release, the figure was well-received by the building community for its detailed printing and the specific inclusion of a physical accessory, contributing to its status as a sought-after piece within the broader Ninjago collection.
