Where it came from
Released in 2011 as part of the inaugural wave of the Lego Ninjago theme, Kruncha serves as a representative figure of the Skeleton Army. This set was designed to introduce the primary antagonists of the series' first season, providing collectors with a brick-built construction toy that featured the distinctive, stylized aesthetic of the early Ninjago aesthetic. The character design drew inspiration from traditional Japanese folklore motifs filtered through the imaginative, action-oriented lens of the Lego universe.
The figure features a unique molded head piece and specialized torso printing that distinguished the Skeleton factions from the standard minifigure designs of the era. Upon its release, the set was well-received by fans for its inclusion of character-specific weapons and the integration of the 'spinjitzu' play mechanic, which defined the launch of the Ninjago line. As one of the core foot soldiers of the Bonezai and Samukai-led forces, Kruncha remains a nostalgic touchstone for the formative years of the Ninjago franchise.
