Where it came from
A Whole New World was released in 2023 as part of The First Chapter, the inaugural set of the Disney Lorcana trading card game developed by Ravensburger. The card represents a pivotal moment from the 1992 animated film Aladdin, capturing the iconic musical sequence where Aladdin and Princess Jasmine traverse the globe on a magic carpet. The card functions as an action card that allows players to discard their hands and draw seven new cards, a powerful mechanic that serves as the engine for many competitive strategy decks.
The design of the card utilizes the signature art style established for the game, blending classic Disney character aesthetics with a modern, high-contrast digital rendering style. It was crafted by Ravensburger’s creative team to evoke a sense of wonder and narrative depth, aiming to bridge the gap between long-time Disney fans and professional card game enthusiasts. Upon its release, it was highly received by the community for its strategic utility, quickly becoming a staple in the game's evolving meta-game.
