Edgar Balthazar

Edgar Balthazar, card number 173, is a common-tier character card released as part of the Hyperia City trading card set. Designed to flesh out the urban landscape of the set’s titular setting, the character represents the quintessential low-level administrative functionary within the fictional city's bureaucracy. Its design emphasizes a muted, utilitarian color palette, intended by the illustration team to convey a sense of overlooked monotony that contrasts with the more visually striking rare character cards in the collection.

The character was developed during the expansion phase of the Hyperia City series to provide players with necessary resource-management utility rather than combat power. Upon its release, it was widely recognized among collectors and players as a staple of entry-level decks. The artwork reflects the art department's focus on environment-led character design, prioritizing the aesthetic consistency of the cityscape over individualized heroics.
