Where it came from
Lester the Possum, designated card number 87, was released as part of the Hyperia City expansion set for the Hyperia trading card game. Developed in the mid-1990s, the game sought to capture the burgeoning interest in stylized, urban-themed collectible card games that focused on idiosyncratic character designs rather than traditional fantasy tropes.
The character design reflects the grit-meets-whimsy aesthetic prevalent in the set, illustrated by artists aiming to blend suburban realism with anthropomorphic traits. As an uncommon rarity card, Lester was intended to serve as a reliable mid-tier utility character for players building diverse decks, and it remains a touchstone for collectors interested in the illustrative evolution of 1990s competitive gaming.
