Where it came from
Magica De Spell, appearing as card number 53 in the Shimmering Skies set of the Disney Lorcana trading card game, represents the expansion's focus on the theme of atmospheric wonder and magical discovery. Released by Ravensburger, this iteration of the iconic sorceress follows the game's established tradition of reimagining classic Disney villains through new mechanical synergies and visual aesthetics designed to integrate with the evolving competitive meta.
The character design for this set draws upon the rich history of the DuckTales franchise, emphasizing Magica's signature silhouette and her relentless pursuit of Scrooge McDuck's Number One Dime. The artwork is tailored to the distinctive, vibrant style of Lorcana, which aims to balance nostalgic character fidelity with the polished, contemporary look of modern digital illustration. Upon release, the set was noted for its refinement of existing deck strategies, with this specific rare card serving as a strategic utility piece for players focusing on board control and magical effects.
